From the first time I started working with metal I loved the way it could be shaped and formed. The more I work with the medium the less I need to plan every aspect of the piece that I am creating. At times I feel the piece takes on a life of its own and it guides me in the creative process.
When I go to the metal yard to purchase materials I see past the stacks of steel rods and sheet metal. I see past the discarded gears and bearings. I see the endless possibilities, the raw materials that will come to life back at my shop.
I love working with tools, spark and flame. I am driven with a need to feel the strain of bending steel, the heat of the forge and see the sparks fly from the welds. The demanding physical nature of the process makes each piece personal. Each piece retains a part of me.
